Job Summary:
The Building Mechanic Technician is responsible for the operation, maintenance, inspection, and installation of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, and control systems in the Sir Wilfrid Laurier School Board facilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform calibration, adjustment, modification, and programming of pneumatic and electronic controls.
- Coordinate technical work for preventive maintenance of mechanical systems.
- Conduct regular inspections and operational tests.
- Ensure repairs are completed or performed as needed.
- Make recommendations for major repairs or required improvements.
- Participate in the development and maintenance of the physical inventory of mechanical services and the spare parts bank necessary for safe operation of systems.
- Study and propose energy conservation programs, apply them or have them applied when approved.
- Develop and prepare heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, plumbing, electrical, or other drawings.
- Comment on plans and specifications provided by external firms.
- Conduct site visits.
- Verify and recommend payment requests for projects under your responsibility.
- Program intrusion alarm systems.
- Update energy expenses (HELIOS).
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Hold a diploma in building mechanics or equivalent recognized by the competent authority.
- Have three years of experience in building mechanics.
- Have experience with the STRATO (BBP) and DELTA (Regulvar) environment is considered an asset.
- Have good knowledge of French (oral and written) and sufficient knowledge of English (oral).
- Have good knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Pass a basic Excel test.
- Know the AutoCad drawing software.
- Have experience in preventive maintenance assisted by GMAO (computer-assisted maintenance management) is considered an asset.
- Hold a valid Health and Safety General Card on construction sites of the ASP is considered an asset.
- Hold a valid driver's license (class 5).
