Web Development Intern Role Summary

The Web Development Intern will work closely with our full stack developer, taking on assignments ranging from simple static HTML updates to complex PHP application development and API integration. This role offers opportunities to support other projects utilizing any skills the intern brings to the table. Additionally, the Web Development intern will be exposed to industry best practices in UI design, accessibility, code maintenance, and testing, as well as building a working knowledge of the publishing world.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Digital Media and Development team to fulfill small development requests
  • Take on larger self-directed application development projects
  • Attend team and stakeholder meetings with partner divisions across the company
  • Participate in the life of the company, including attending events and educational sessions with industry experts
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Education in web development, computer science, software engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Approx. 1 year of cumulative work experience
  • Solid skills in PHP, Javascript, Relational Database (MySQL/SQL), HTML & CSS
  • Experience with Version Control (Github/Bitbucket), AWS, Wordpress/Wpengine, React would be an asset
  • Interest in children's books, authors, and media
  • Personal values aligned with Scholastic's Credo
