We are currently seeking a highly skilled Senior Tax Staff Accountant to join our dynamic U.S./Canada Cross Border team at Welch LLP.

About the Opportunity

This exciting role specializes in U.S. tax compliance and advisory, providing complex and specialized U.S. partnership, corporate, and individual income tax returns preparation.

As a key member of our team, you will review simple U.S. tax returns, prepare voluntary disclosures for corporate tax-related issues, establish and maintain effective client relationships, conduct special tax projects, and communicate with respective tax authorities.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Prepare complex U.S. tax returns, including partnerships, corporations, and individuals
  • Review simple U.S. tax returns (partnerships, corporations, and individuals)
  • Prepare voluntary disclosures for corporate tax-related issues
  • Maintain excellent client relationships through effective communication
  • Conduct special tax projects and research to ensure accuracy and compliance
  • Communicate with tax authorities and assist with government notice responses
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you should have a strong background in accounting, specifically in U.S. tax, with a minimum completion of a University degree or College diploma. A CPA, CA/U.S. CPA designation or close proximity to completion would be an asset.

We are looking for candidates with 1-3 years of experience in public accounting, preferably in U.S. tax. Excellent organizational and communication skills are essential, as well as proficiency in MS Excel. Canadian tax knowledge would be beneficial, while prior experience with U.S. software such as CCH/Prosystem is an added advantage.
