The Department of Biochemistry & Molecular Biology at the University of British Columbia is seeking a highly skilled Research Associate to join the laboratory of Dr. Pieter Cullis.
The successful candidate will be responsible for synthesizing iron oxide nanoparticles (IONP) and gold nanoparticles (GNP) with optimized encapsulation properties in lipid nanoparticles (LNP) containing small molecule cancer drugs and nucleic acid based drugs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and synthesize IONP and GNP with hydrophobic or negatively charged surface properties.
- Formulate IONP and GNP into LNP for testing purposes.
- Collaborate with the research team to develop and implement new methods for triggered release of cancer drugs or nucleic acid drugs.
- Contribute to the development of research proposals and publications.
Requirements:
- PhD and postdoctoral research experience in nanoparticle synthesis and characterization.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and demanding research environment.
- Strong scientific and technical background in biochemistry and molecular biology.
