About the Role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineer III to join our expanding Orbital Mission Systems team at Sierra Space. As a key member of our Ground Integrated Product Team (IPT), you will be responsible for designing, integrating, and testing a secure ground network for a novel space platform.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze customer capability and performance needs to define ground network and related mission solutions.
  • Develop ground network requirements, defining interfaces, conducting technical trades, and preparing CONOPS.
  • Develop integration and test plans for ground network systems and participate in V&V activities and demonstrations.
  • Work with ground software teams to develop CI/CD pipelines for ground infrastructure and application deployment.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's of Science degree in System Engineering or related discipline and typically 6 or more years of relevant experience.
  • Practical knowledge of engineering principles and practices.
  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams.
  • Knowledge of requirements management, functional requirements parsing, derivation, and allocation; systems design, systems integration, technical risk identification and management strategies, and Verification and Validation (V&V) principles.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or higher in related field of study.
  • Ability to create and implement automated CI/CD pipeline-based DevSecOps systems.
  • Experience deploying and debugging cloud infrastructures.
  • Familiarity with the Risk Management Framework and US Government cybersecurity requirements for ground system architectures and software development.
  • Experience with Requirements Management and Model Based Systems Engineering tools, such as DOORS, CAMEO EA, Rhapsody, Matlab, and SysML.
  • Experience with Agile development methods, processes, and tools (JIRA, Confluence, etc).
  • Knowledge of Python, Java, Ruby, Bash, C++, C#, or Go programming languages.
  • Experience with SW unit and/or automated testing.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to conduct project reviews and develop technical documentation.
  • Great attitude with the ability to collaborate effectively on multidisciplinary teams to solve hard problems in a rapid development environment.
  • Background in the Aerospace and Defense Industry.
  • An active Secret U.S. Security Clearance preferred.

Physical/Mental/Emotional Requirements:

  • Frequently walk, sit, stand, climb stairs and steps.
  • Frequently repeat same hand, arm, and finger motion many times to include finger and hand dexterity.
  • Rarely lifting or carrying up to 20 lbs.

Working Conditions:

  • Rarely exposed to outdoor elements (high/low temperatures, sun, rain/snow, etc.).
  • Rarely exposed to fumes or hazardous chemicals/materials.
  • Rarely exposed to loud noises.

Estimated Starting Salary Range: $104,827.91 - $157,241.88

Sierra Space offers annual incentive pay based upon performance that is commensurate with the level of the position.
