Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Arc'teryx Full time
Design Developer 2 Job Description

At Arc'teryx, we're seeking a highly skilled Design Developer 2 to join our Hardgoods and Accessories Design team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for developing fully resolved solutions that align with the original intent and vision of our product design.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Contribute to product design by developing unique and resolved solutions that align with Arc'teryx design philosophies and the original intent and vision for the product, with a focus on technical items (gore, gloves, backpacks, and advanced frame components).
  • Build both partial and complete concept prototypes to allow for solutions to be tested, reviewed, and validated.
  • Produce production-level and resolved products, along with supporting documentation to ensure scalable construction in a bulk production environment.
  • Collaborate with design, pattern makers, and product developers to create, document, and communicate new concepts, construction processes, and techniques to enable manufacturing solutions that meet Arc'teryx product ideals.
  • Partner with pattern making, product development, and fit and pattern engineering to validate and implement standards that will ensure consistency across all styles within the line plan.
  • Test and document the outcomes of various material suitability evaluations.
  • Provide recommendations on final material selection.
  • Support the creation of field and wear test samples by providing direction and feedback to the cutting team.
  • Collaborate with pattern makers, product, and design developers on seasonal and special projects as required.
  • Support the onboarding and training of new design developer hires.

Future Opportunities:
  • Create 3D sculptural forms using both digital and physical concepting tools to streamline the creation of concept samples.
  • Collaborate with sample rooms at our factory partners to teach new construction techniques, develop concept samples, and resolve patterns.

Requirements:
  • 4+ years' experience working in a technical design environment, ideally focused on hardgoods and accessories.
  • Diploma or degree in fashion design or equivalent experience.
  • Advanced CAD and Gerber pattern-making skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe Illustrator, with the ability to pick up new computer applications quickly.
  • Proactive in identifying the root cause of issues, seeking the best (sometimes not the easiest) solutions with an unwavering commitment to do what is right.
  • Remain highly flexible and adaptable when faced with ambiguity.
  • Effectively balance autonomy and collaboration.
  • Inspire breakthrough thinking and continuous improvement.
  • Passion for your work paralleled by your passion for getting outside and living it.
  • Strong knowledge of Arc'teryx products and interest/involvement in activities Arc'teryx makes products for.

Compensation:
A reasonable estimate of the pay range is $80,000 - $100,000 CAD at the time of this posting. Within the range, individual pay is determined by factors such as job-related skills, relevant experience, education, and/or training. Please note that the range details above reflect the base pay only and do not include our competitive bonus program and benefits that we offer.
