  • Develop and implement HR strategies to support business objectives
  • Recruit, orient, and onboard new employees
  • Administer group health and disability benefit programs, including Short Term Disability (STD) and Long Term Disability (LTD) claims management
  • Administer the group pension plan (Defined Contribution pension plan)
  • Ensure employees adhere to health and safety regulations and participate in Health & Safety initiatives
  • Manage workers compensation claim policies, practices, and procedures
  • Assist with employee and labour relations issues, including coordinating activities of other HR teams, administering progressive disciplinary action, and ensuring consistent application of policies, procedures, and collective agreements
  • Conduct workplace investigations and resolve conflicts among staff
  • Participate in collective bargaining negotiations and implement organizational change

Key Responsibilities

- Develop and implement HR strategies to support business objectives

- Recruit, orient, and onboard new employees

- Administer group health and disability benefit programs, including Short Term Disability (STD) and Long Term Disability (LTD) claims management

- Administer the group pension plan (Defined Contribution pension plan)

- Ensure employees adhere to health and safety regulations and participate in Health & Safety initiatives

Requirements

- Minimum 4-7 years' experience in Human Resources in a complex environment, preferably in the hospitality or airline industry

- Minimum 4-7 years' experience in a unionized environment with significant experience in labour relations

- Post-Secondary Degree/Diploma in Human Resources/Labour Relations

- Certification in human resources management by a provincial governing body preferred

- Experience with ADP Workforce Now (HRIS and Attendance Management system) desirable

Education and Certifications

- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field

- Professional certification in Human Resources management, such as CHRP or CPHR

Skills and Qualifications

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

- Ability to work in a fast-paced and changing environment

- Demonstrated ability to meet strategic objectives for HR and the organization

- Demonstrated ability to manage HR core processes such as talent management, succession planning, and employee relations

- Effective communication skills with individuals at all levels of the organization

- Effective written and verbal communication skills as well as presentation skills

- Sound leadership, staff management, and teambuilding skills

- Computer literacy, including effective working skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook required

- Able to interpret and implement personnel-related legislation

- Demonstrated basic knowledge of labour laws
