Job Title: Housekeeping Aide

At the Health Sciences Centre, we are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our Housekeeping team as a Housekeeping Aide.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of cleaning activities, including patient care units, residences, cafeterias, offices, laboratories, locker room areas, and corridors. This role requires the ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a focus on maintaining a clean and safe environment for patients, visitors, and staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform cleaning and disinfection tasks in assigned areas, including patient rooms, common areas, and equipment.
  • Operate and maintain cleaning equipment and supplies, adhering to safety and health regulations.
  • Report any maintenance repairs, deficiencies, or changes in occupancy to the Supervisor or Customer Representative.
  • Participate in flood cleanup and post-construction cleanup efforts as required.
  • Ensure proper use and knowledge of all equipment and products in accordance with Housekeeping procedures.
Requirements
  • Previous related experience is preferred.
  • Minimum Grade 10 education, Manitoba standards, is required.
  • Classroom and on-the-job training will be provided by Housekeeping.
  • Must be able to read and speak English effectively.
  • Preference will be given to those applicants competent in an Indigenous language and/or knowledge in Indigenous customs, traditions, and values.
Working Conditions

This position involves walking, bending, stretching, and lifting/carrying/moving moderately heavy weights. The incumbent may be exposed to chemical substances, moisture, odour, noise, vibration, dust, grime, and interruptions. Usual safety procedures and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) must be taken to avoid work injury.
