Beth David Congregation, a dynamic egalitarian conservative synagogue in Toronto, seeks an experienced leader to drive growth and success.

The synagogue is home to the flourishing Montessori Jewish Day school and celebrates its 70th anniversary in 2025.

This leadership position offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the community and lead a team of dedicated professionals.

About the Role:

We are seeking a strategic thinker who can collaborate with the clergy team, Board, and local communities to provide direction and leadership to the office staff. The successful candidate will be responsible for organizational leadership, financial management, building and property management, programming and membership, people management, information technology, communications, and fundraising and outreach.

  • Organizational leadership: Drive the implementation of the strategic plan and energize employees to support the growth efforts of the synagogue.
  • Financial Management: Oversee the management of the synagogue's finances in a fiscally responsible manner, ensuring efficient use of resources.
  • Building and Property Management: Ensure the maintenance of the property and equipment, ensuring all systems are operational and secure.
  • Programming & Membership: Develop and implement high-quality programs and services, enhancing the member experience and driving growth.
  • People Management: Recruit, develop, and empower staff, fostering a positive and productive work environment.
  • Information Technology: Leverage existing technologies to optimize efficiency and safeguard confidential records.
  • Communications: Implement an effective communications strategy, providing timely and relevant information to members and external audiences.
  • Fundraising & Outreach: Organize and participate in fundraising campaigns, identifying donors and promoting shul activities externally.
