Lifeguard/Instructor I Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Lifeguard/Instructor I to join our team at the City of Regina. As a Lifeguard/Instructor I, you will be responsible for ensuring the safety of patrons and providing instructional services at our aquatic facilities.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure proper safety procedures are followed and perform first aid, water rescues, and other lifeguarding skills as required.
- Carry out responsible lifeguard and instructional duties, ensuring a safe and healthy environment for aquatic enjoyment and education.
- Participate in mandatory staff training and development programs.
- Assume responsibility for individual lesson plans, class attendance, and progress cards.
- Enforce swimming pool rules and regulations as outlined by the City of Regina and the Saskatchewan Public Health Act.
- Assist with cleaning and disinfecting duties as required.
- Supervise patrons using the facility, in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Maintain good public relations with patrons and facility staff.
- Experience in dealing with clients at aquatic facilities providing lifeguarding and instructional services.
- A minimum of Grade 10 (can be in progress).
- Lifesaving Society National Lifeguard Service - Pool (NL) certification.
- Lifesaving Society Swim for Life Instructor Certification or equivalent.
- Automated External Defibrillator (AED) certification.
- At least one of the following: Canadian Red Cross Standard First Aid & CPR/AED-C, St. John Ambulance Standard First Aid & CPR/AED-C, or Lifesaving Society Aquatic Emergency Care & CPR/AED-C.
- Available shifts: daytime, evening, and weekends.
- Testing may be done to evaluate knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- Successful candidate may be required to obtain a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector criminal record check.
- Successful candidates will be required to provide proof of acquired education.
- Additional assessments may be conducted to evaluate competencies, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
