Taxes Director

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Tax Director to join our team at Maple Leaf Foods. As a key member of our finance team, you will be responsible for leading and managing the tax function, working closely with senior management and the corporate finance team. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring the timely and accurate completion of domestic income tax compliance requirements, as well as identifying and implementing opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and inspire a team of professionals to deliver high-quality tax services and ensure timely and accurate completion of domestic income tax compliance requirements.
- Collaborate with the financial reporting, treasury, investor relations, and operations teams to ensure alignment and effective communication.
- Develop and implement tax strategies to minimize tax liabilities and ensure compliance with all relevant tax laws and regulations.
- Manage and oversee the tax team's income tax activities, including commodity taxes for an experienced candidate.
- Provide leadership and guidance to the tax team, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectively.
- Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including the CRA and other external partners.
- Stay up-to-date with changes in tax laws and regulations, and ensure the tax team is aware of any new developments that may impact the company.

Requirements- CPA (preferably CA background).
- Completed the CPA Canada In-depth Tax Course and/or hold an MTax degree.
- Minimum 10 years Canadian income tax experience, including at least 5 years at a public company.
- Manufacturing background preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to deal with ambiguity.
- Ability to communicate complex information clearly and concisely.
