Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Licensed Mechanic to join our team at First Student Canada. As a Licensed Mechanic, you will play a critical role in maintaining and repairing our fleet of school buses to ensure vehicle readiness and safety.

Key Responsibilities
  • Vehicle Maintenance and Repair: Diagnose and perform accurate repairs on all phases of vehicle and equipment, including brakes, engine tune-ups, suspensions, drive trains, transmission clutches, and other repairs.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Lead preventative maintenance (PMs), safety inspections, and annual maintenance inspections to ensure vehicles are in good working condition.
  • Work Order Management: Ensure work orders are completed properly and accurately, and maintain records of all maintenance work completed, including parts and supplies used.
  • Quality Control: Evaluate completed work prior to release and seek approval where required.
  • Leadership: Lead road calls and emergency services as necessary, and adhere to First Student standards, policies, and procedures.
Requirements
  • License and Certification: Must have a valid Mechanic license and ASE certification.
  • Education and Experience: Must have a high school diploma or equivalent and relevant experience in heavy duty mechanics.
  • Skills and Abilities: Advanced problem-solving ability, advanced computer skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team, and ability to work assigned shift.
