About the Role

We are seeking a skilled and physically fit individual to join our team as a Fish Processing Plant Worker at Quin-Sea Fisheries. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for ensuring the efficient and safe processing of fish and shellfish.

Key Responsibilities
  • Unload and Transport Fish and Shellfish: Unload fish and shellfish from fishing vessels and transport them by hand to the work area, ensuring minimal damage and optimal quality.
  • Operate Forklift and Transport Equipment: Use a forklift to transport unloaded fish and shellfish from fishing vessels, and transport fish and shellfish to the work area.
  • Condition and Prepare Fish Filets: Condition fish filets for wrapping or freezing, ensuring they meet our high standards of quality and safety.
  • Weigh and Pack Fish: Weigh fish or shellfish, record weight, and pack fish in ice to maintain optimal freshness and quality.
  • Clean and Maintain Equipment: Clean machines and immediate work areas, ensuring a safe and healthy working environment.
  • Measure and Prepare Ingredients: Measure and dump ingredients into hoppers of mixing and grinding machines, ensuring accurate and efficient production.
  • Sort and Classify Fish: Sort fish according to species, weight, and destination, ensuring accurate and efficient processing.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
  • Repetitive Tasks: Perform repetitive tasks, including standing for extended periods, bending, crouching, and kneeling.
  • Handling Heavy Loads: Handle heavy loads, up to 23 kg (50 lbs), with ease and precision.
  • Physically Demanding: Work in a physically demanding environment, requiring manual dexterity, attention to detail, and hand-eye coordination.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate or equivalent experience.
  • Experience: 1 to less than 7 months of experience in a similar role.
  • Personal Suitability: Excellent interpersonal skills, efficient oral communication, flexibility, reliability, and a team player attitude.
