Project Procurement Director Job Description

The Project Procurement Director will lead the procurement effort on major international refurbishment projects, responsible for delivering the procurement effort for NSP components and ensuring critical project milestones are met. They will lead the project procurement team and interface with customers and critical stakeholders.

This role will be based in Mississauga, ON.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Plan the procurement of complex goods and services, approximately $1bn, leveraging the experience and knowledge of the team to create solid procurement plans and strategies.
  2. Lead a dynamic procurement team with a strong commitment to local supply chain and indigenous communities.
  3. Develop the strategic procurement plan and lead the procurement effort through the various phases of the project.
  4. Interface with multidisciplinary teams with a clear understanding of outcomes at different levels, including but not limited to Procure to Pay, Engineering, Finance, and Quality.
  5. Coordinate effectively and secure successful outcomes related to procurement scope, between the multiple project and functional teams.
  6. Plan and monitor procurement scope, analyzing successes and challenges, ensuring continuous improvement and forward thinking.
  7. Deal with project procurement risk and uncertainty with strategic mitigation plans in place for execution when required.
  8. Market, network, and negotiate effectively with various stakeholders.
  9. Execute high-level strategies as directed by the Project Leadership Team.

Requirements:
  1. Post-secondary education. CSCMP certification, SCMA or MCIPS preferred, MBA, post-graduate degree an asset.
  2. 20 years' major project experience in similar industries.
  3. Stakeholder engagement and supplier relationship management.
  4. Strategic thinker and business influencer, with change management experience.
  5. People leadership and development skills with experience leading a procurement management team and team of Buyers and Order Administrators.
  6. Effective communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity skillset.
  7. Business travel as required.
