Responsibilities:

  • To deliver high-quality nursing care in accordance with established policies, physician's orders, and the resident plan of care.
  • To utilize sound nursing principles to ensure excellent care in the assigned home areas.
  • To facilitate timely admissions, comprehensive orientations, and safe transfers and discharges for residents.
  • To maintain control and safekeeping of medications and narcotics, adhering to protocols on all shifts.
  • To assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care to meet residents' physical, psychological, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and social needs.

Requirements:

  • Active registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Able to work with individuals with infectious diseases.
  • BLS Certificate.
  • Valid First Aid & CPR.
  • Proof of current immunizations for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, and Varicella (MMRV) as well as a negative TB skin test within one year and Hepatitis B.
  • Current Vulnerable Sector Police Check.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Flexibility to work varying shift lengths of 8 or 12 hours.
  • Ability to 'float' between units within a hospital as needed.
  • Reliability to be placed at an agreed-upon facility/unit.

The estimated salary for this position is $80,000 - $110,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
