About this Role
As a member of Brookfield Renewable's Financial Reporting and Lender Relations team, you will have the opportunity to work closely with accounting professionals in the preparation of financial statement note disclosures under both IFRS and US GAAP. You will also participate in the preparation of financial information for Canadian and US Government Reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting
Prepare quarterly and annual audited financial statements with precision and timelinessConduct in-depth analysis of financial data to generate comprehensive reports for lenders, tax-equity and joint-venture partners, and internal stakeholdersEnsure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements in all financial reporting activitiesImplement best practices to enhance efficiency and accuracyCoordinate and facilitate the annual external audit and internal controls over financing reporting processes, including preparing audit schedules, providing requested documentation, and addressing auditor inquiriesLender Relations
Build and nurture positive relationships with lenders and tax-equity and joint-venture partners to foster collaboration and trustServe as the primary point of contact for lender, and tax-equity and joint-venture partners inquiries and requests, providing timely and accurate responsesMonitor and communicate financial performance metrics to lenders, and tax-equity and joint-venture partners demonstrating accountability and transparencyAssist our Capital Markets teams with discussions and negotiations with lenders, and tax-equity and joint-venture partners to address any financial concerns or issueCompliance and Risk Management
Review and analyze financing and partnership agreements and other financial contracts to identify reporting obligations and ensure complianceMonitor ongoing compliance with financing and partnership agreements, partnership agreements, and tax equity arrangements to mitigate risksImplement and maintain internal controls to safeguard financial integrityProcess Improvement
Continuously evaluate and enhance financial reporting processes to streamline operations and improve efficiencyIdentify opportunities for automation and technology adoption to optimize workflows and reduce manual effortsProactively address challenges and implement solutions to enhance the accuracy and reliability of financial reportingSupport Functions
Provide ad hoc support to other departments within the organization, particularly in Capital Market and M&A activities and credit rating reviewsCollaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment and synergy in financial reporting and lender, and tax-equity and joint-venture partners relations effortsKnowledge & Skills Required
Currently enrolled in an accredited post-secondary programCompleted first year university studies in Commerce/Business Administration (preferably 3rd or 4th year with a concentration in Accounting)Financial/Accounting knowledge and preferably some familiarity in IFRSIntermediate knowledge of ExcelAbility to 'think outside the box', to work in a dynamic, complex, fast-paced environment, to adapt quickly and to manage changing prioritiesAbility to work independently, solve problems and use sound judgmentStrong interpersonal and communication skillsKnowledge of consolidation systems such as Cognos Controller and OneStream is considered an assetInterest in pursuing a professional accounting designation is considered an assetNote: Offices continue to be central to collaboration and Brookfield's identity. This position requires the employee to be on-site for a minimum of 4 days to perform most effectively.
