Physician Assistant

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Physician Assistant to join our team in the Emergency Department at William Osler Health System.
Job Summary:The Physician Assistant will work under the supervision of a supervising physician to provide quality patient-focused care to patients in the Emergency Department. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting patient interviews, performing physical examinations, and organizing laboratory and diagnostic investigations.
Key Responsibilities:- Conduct patient interviews and take medical histories
- Perform physical examinations and interpret findings
- Organize laboratory and diagnostic investigations
- Perform certain controlled acts under medical directives delegated by a physician
- Counsel patients on preventive health care
- Organize patient follow-up
- Perform other duties within your competencies as a Physician Assistant
- Graduate of the Physician Assistant Bachelor's degree at McMaster University or the University of Toronto Consortium
- Certified through the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistant
- Certified or eligible to be certified through the Physician Assistant's Certification Council
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support, Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Paediatric Advanced Life Support, and Neonatal Advanced Life Support are mandatory
- Experience working in an emergency department is preferred
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and with respect in both a verbal and written format with patients, public, colleagues, and other health disciplines
- Demonstrated competency to perform complete and appropriate clinical assessment and development of a treatment plan in accordance with medical directives
- Proven problem-solving and critical thinking skills
- Ability to work in a collaborative medical model of care with all members of the healthcare team
- Satisfactory employment and attendance record

Hours: Currently days/evenings, 8 and 12 hour shifts (subject to change in accordance with operational requirements)
