Project Engineer Assembly Operations

Established in 1993, our client is a leading engineering firm in British Columbia, offering in-house, multi-discipline engineering and project services for new and sustaining capital projects. Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and coordinate multidiscipline engineering activities to ensure projects are executed efficiently, cost-effectively, and on time.
  • Oversee resources and handle multiple projects, ensuring technical accuracy and meeting project objectives.
  • Liaise between the project manager and technical disciplines involved in the design of upstream/midstream natural gas, LNG, renewables, hydrogen, and technology industries.
  • Understand and comply with client specifications, Provincial and Federal regulations, and codes related to the design of natural gas, renewables, and LNG systems.
  • Prepare estimates and budgets, manage piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and assist with equipment sizing and selection.
  • Assess procurement processes throughout the project to ensure goods meet specifications and are delivered on time.
  • Coordinate tasks, work schedules, and project deliverables to ensure project objectives are achieved.
  • Ensure the design team meets and complies with client's stated requirements, applicable codes and regulations, and accepted engineering practices and standards.
  • Build and maintain healthy vendor and sub-contractor relationships.
  • Collaborate with vendors and subcontractors to interpret project specifications and contract criteria.
  • Resolve difficult client and engineering problems by reviewing existing requirements, developing new approaches, or applying existing procedures.
  • Liaise with different disciplines to resolve design problems, discuss project criteria, and facilitate smooth project coordination.
  • Recommend improvements in design standards to reduce costs, improve work quality, and facilitate maintenance.
  • Participate in internal and external review meetings (PHA/HAZOPs, design reviews, 3D model reviews).
  • Coordinate responses from the design team on technical questions from the client, vendor, or subcontractor.
  • Review work of support staff to ensure technical accuracy and adequacy.
  • May be required to travel to the field for final inspection of all facilities.
  • May be responsible for signing and stamping engineering drawings.
Requirements:
  • Post-secondary education with a degree in Mechanical/Chemical Engineering or Applied Science.
  • 5+ years of work experience in a relevant industry.
  • Natural Gas, Renewables, and LNG industry experience would be an asset.
  • Eng designation will be considered for a similar role, provided the applicant has 8+ years of relevant industry experience in packaged equipment fabrication management, field construction/turn-around management, or facility operations.
  • Previous work experience in an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction Management company and experience in work involving Provincial/Federal regulations, codes, and standards.
  • Field or site experience is desirable.
  • Good problem-solving skills with the ability to make analytical decisions and draw conclusions from comparative conditions.
  • Strong understanding and application of engineering codes and standards.
