Confirm findings with your supervisor to determine whether to repair or replace a unit, and discuss work with them to ensure accuracy and efficiency.
Inspect and Test UnitsInspect mechanical units to locate faults and malfunctions, and test automotive systems and components to identify issues.
Adjust and Repair PartsAdjust, repair or replace parts and components of automotive systems, and test and adjust repaired systems to manufacturer's specifications.
Estimate and Perform MaintenanceEstimate parts and labour cost to perform vehicle maintenance and repairs, and perform scheduled maintenance service.
Complete Reports and Coach ApprenticesComplete reports to record problems and work performed, and coach and instruct apprentices to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge.
Requirements- Education and Experience
Secondary (high) school graduation certificate and 3 years to less than 5 years of experience in the automotive service industry.
Certifications and LicensesAutomotive Service Technician Trade Certification.
Work Conditions and Physical CapabilitiesAbility to work in a fast-paced environment, with hand-eye co-ordination, attention to detail, manual dexterity, and standing for extended periods.
Personal SuitabilityDependability, excellent oral communication, flexibility, judgement, reliability, and team player.
