Compass Energy Systems Ltd is seeking a skilled Apprentice Welder to join our team in the Structural Department. As a key member of our fabrication team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality welding services for the fabrication of Compressor Skids.
Key Responsibilities- Read and interpret blueprints and/or welding process specifications to ensure accurate and efficient fabrication.
- Follow all welding procedures and protocols to maintain quality standards and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Set up and operate welding machines and equipment, including cutting and coping structural steel, fitting and welding skids and structural subassemblies.
- Use radiograph, hand torches, welding machines, power, and hand tools to complete tasks efficiently and effectively.
- Participate in the Quality Control Program to ensure adherence to quality standards and identify areas for improvement.
- Communicate effectively with Foreman/Lead Hand and other team members to ensure timely job progression and identify material or equipment deficiencies.
- Organize and maintain a clean and functional work area, adhering to Health & Safety policies and procedures.
- Participate in accident investigations and worksite inspections to ensure a safe working environment.
- Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and observe Health & Safety policies at all times.
- Assist in other areas of the shop as required and assigned by Foreman/Lead Hand.
- CWB ticket, FCAW & SMAW certification.
- Fitting experience is a strong asset.
- Must have own tools as per the Compass Tool List for Tradesmen.
- Knowledge and understanding of Quality Control procedures: CWB.
- Knowledge and understanding of OH&S, rigging, sling, and crane operation procedures.
- Strong organizational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
- Team player with attention to detail.
- Ability to stand for long periods, climb and work at heights over 10 feet, crouch, and lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
- Able to work in a noisy, smoky, dusty shop environment with varying temperatures.
