Job Title: Research Program Manager

George Brown College is seeking a highly skilled Research Program Manager to join our Research and Innovation team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing our research programs, ensuring their successful execution and delivery.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage program and project teams, developing and implementing program plans to effectively allocate resources.
  • Track program progress and budgets, monitor timelines, conduct procurement, and ensure targets are met.
  • Prepare and oversee the execution of Research and Innovation contracts and agreements.
  • Assign activities to project teams and work with them to ensure all project deliverables meet or exceed stakeholder expectations.
  • Maintain consistent reporting processes, proactively identify missing or erroneous data, and work with the ORI operations team and senior managers to resolve or minimize immediate and future issues.
  • Prepare financial reports and forecasting models, and contribute to the overall ORI budget planning, tracking, and forecasting activities.
  • Monitor program budget, identify expenditure trends, reconcile financial records, and resolve discrepancies.
  • Maintain relationships with existing and prospective Research and Innovation stakeholders.
Requirements:
  • Four-Year Degree in Project Management or Formal Project Management training from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • Minimum of three (3) years' related experience.
  • Experience with scientific methods and in conducting research.
  • Grant writing experience will be an asset.
  • Research ethics and intellectual property training would be an asset.
  • Experience in securing project funding.
  • Previous supervisory experience.

  • Conflict resolution and group facilitation skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams and facilitate a positive team environment.
  • Ability to work on multiple, competing deadlines and priorities.
  • Excellent computer software skills (especially MS Office, and data analysis programs).
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills, including public speaking.
  • Demonstrated multi-tasking, delegating, and coordination skills.
  • Demonstrated grant writing and budget development skills.
  • Excellent listening skills, negotiation skills, and client relationship management.
  • Ability to promote excellent working relationships with both academic and non-academic staff.
  • Knowledge of research design and methodology.
  • Knowledge of research funding programs and requirements.
  • Demonstrated commitment to uphold the College's priorities on diversity and equity.
