Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Early Childhood Educator to join our team at the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board. As a key member of our educational team, you will work collaboratively with classroom teachers to provide high-quality, play-based education to support the enhanced learning and cognitive, emotional, and social development of Junior and Senior Kindergarten students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead an extended program before and/or after school for OCDSB students at designated elementary schools
  • Work with classroom teachers in daily classroom activities with students
  • Develop and implement play-based educational programs that promote learning excellence and meet the individual needs of students
  • Collaborate with teachers and other educational staff to achieve goals and support student success
  • Provide high-quality, effective education to support the enhanced learning and cognitive, emotional, and social development of Junior and Senior Kindergarten students
Requirements
  • Completed a two-year community college program in Early Childhood Education or equivalent
  • Registration and good standing with the Ontario College of Early Childhood Educators
  • Minimum of one year of child care experience
  • Valid First Aid certification/CPR
  • Immunization Record with proof of MMR and Tdap immunizations (as well as a personal declaration of having chicken pox in the past, or the chicken pox vaccine)
  • Police Records Check for the Vulnerable Sector Check done within the last 6 months for new employees, or within the last 5 years for current employees
Preferred Qualifications
  • Thorough understanding of early childhood development and knowledge of elementary school operations
  • Good communication skills to effectively communicate with parents, staff, and students
  • Ability to use tact, discretion, and good judgment
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision within a multicultural environment
  • Ability to respect and work with a diverse range of children and families of all backgrounds and abilities
