About the Role


This Part-Time Regular position in Health Records Coding requires an experienced Inpatient Coding Specialist to accurately code and abstract patient-related health information using ICD-10-CA/CCI and WinRecs. The successful candidate will meet benchmarks for coding productivity standards and participate in month-end activities for data submissions to CIHI.



Key Responsibilities



  • Meet established coding productivity standards.
  • Code and abstract health information using ICD-10-CA/CCI and WinRecs.
  • Participate in month-end activities for data submissions to CIHI.
  • Assist with hospital and departmental data quality assurance.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of anatomy, physiology, disease processes, medications, microbiology, medical terminology, and diagnostic test results.
  • Demonstrate advanced computer skills, including proficiency in WinRecs and Cerner.
  • Work independently and collaboratively as part of a dynamic team.


Requirements


The ideal candidate will possess:



  • A graduate degree from an accredited Health Information Management program.
  • CHIM credentials and active membership in good standing with CHIMA.
  • Successful completion of the National Certification Exam through CHIMA.
  • At least two years' experience in inpatient coding within an acute treatment facility.
  • Proficiency in typing at 60 words per minute (wpm).
  • Bilingualism in French and English (an asset).


What We Offer


North York General Hospital offers a highly competitive total compensation package, including pay in lieu of benefits, vacation pay, and the opportunity to join the Hospital Pension Plan. This position is available on a Part-Time Regular basis, with shifts ranging from 4 to 8 hours, including days, evenings, nights, weekends, and on-call rotations.



Salary Range:$62,000 - $74,500 per annum based on qualifications and experience.
