Position Overview
As a Systems Project Engineer, you will serve as the primary engineering resource for a specific program or segment of a program. Your responsibilities will encompass technical coordination, work planning, and the execution of tasks within a multi-disciplinary team. Reporting directly to the Program Manager, you will provide comprehensive technical management support, ensuring adherence to cost, schedule, and technical objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the daily operations of the multi-disciplinary project team, collaborating closely with the Program Manager to fulfill technical and scheduling requirements while adhering to budget constraints.
- Organize and allocate resources effectively to execute the work scope, promptly identifying any shortages or conflicts to the Program Manager.
- Facilitate ongoing coordination and communication within the project team, ensuring alignment with project objectives and resolving any arising issues.
- Coordinate intra-project activities with essential support resources, including Systems Leads and Technical Leads.
- Oversee MAIT coordination, including the development of test plans and procedures, management of GSE, and timely document release and test implementation.
- Identify and manage risks and opportunities associated with the customer and program, prioritizing, mitigating, escalating, and resolving issues as necessary.
- Assist the Program Manager in negotiations and discussions with customers regarding key program requirements, objectives, funding, and resources.
- Support non-labour management by monitoring resource generation and liaising with subcontractors and suppliers to ensure project timelines and cost objectives are met.
- Contribute to program control through regular reviews, design assessments, and meetings, providing technical guidance and decision-making support to the program team.
- Help prepare detailed schedules to track program progress, including cost assessments and completion estimates.
- Assist in the preparation for program reviews and briefings to maintain organizational visibility.
- Enhance program visibility at the customer level through regular technical and management meetings, fostering effective relationships and confidence in MDA's quality systems and products.
Qualifications:
- Degree in Engineering or equivalent technical/business education.
- 5 - 10 years of experience in an engineering role within the space, robotics, or related technical fields. Candidates will be evaluated for Intermediate/Working/Senior levels based on qualifications and experience.
- Willingness to expand knowledge across various areas of expertise.
- Experience in team leadership, task estimation, and monitoring, with familiarity in Earned Value Methodology and risk management.
- Self-motivated with strong interpersonal and conflict management skills; capable of motivating a team and collaborating with external stakeholders.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Successful candidates must obtain and maintain security clearance at the reliability status level and pass the security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP).
