Spruce Meadows, a world-renowned show jumping venue in Calgary, Alberta, is seeking skilled and enthusiastic individuals to join its Jump Crew as Attendants. This seasonal position offers a unique opportunity to be part of an exciting equestrian event while developing valuable skills and experience.

Job Summary

We are looking for motivated and detail-oriented individuals to assist with the setup and maintenance of competition rings, warm-up rings, and other equipment during tournaments. The successful candidate will have excellent organizational skills, be comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions, and possess a strong team approach.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with setting up and maintaining outdoor competition rings and adjacent warm-up rings
  • Measure and ensure obstacles meet Equestrian Canada (EC) and Fédération Equestre Internationale (FEI) standards
  • Help set up sports timing Tag Heuer equipment
  • Participate in equine ambulance drills and emergency animal removal
  • Conduct jump repairs and general maintenance tasks
  • Perform divot and turf repair, irrigation requirements, and basic maintenance of equipment and tools
  • Support the upkeep of Spruce Meadows grounds, including pathways, fencing, and temporary/permanent structures

Requirements

  • Minimum 18 years of age
  • Full availability during contract dates
  • High school diploma or equivalent experience
  • Comfortable around horses and willingness to learn about show jumping
  • Reliable transportation and a valid Class 5 driver's license (asset)
  • Ability to work weekends, evenings, late nights, early mornings, and on-call shifts
  • Strong organizational proficiency, time management skills, and conflict resolution abilities
  • Basic English communication skills and ability to multi-task

Working Conditions

The successful candidate will work primarily outdoors in varying weather conditions, including hot, cold, wet, and dry environments. They must also be comfortable handling heavy loads and standing, bending, crouching, or kneeling for extended periods.
