Job Summary

The Maples Adolescent Treatment Centre provides specialized community programs and live-in treatment services for young people with severe and enduring mental health and behavioural difficulties. The centre supports families, caregivers, and communities in caring for and treating young people with complex needs.

The Role
Under the supervision of a Child Care Counsellor or Nurse, the Child Care Counsellor is responsible for providing assessment, care planning, treatment, discharge, and community services for young people admitted to the centre. The counsellor will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to provide comprehensive care and support to young people and their families.

Qualifications
Education and Experience Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Social Work or other human services field; OR
  • Diploma in Social Work or other human services field AND 2 years of related experience; OR
  • An equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class 5 BC Driver's License with no restriction or equivalent.
  • Must be willing to work with families and youth facing strong emotional challenges.
  • Related experience includes the following:
  • Experience with gathering, assessing, and writing reports.
  • Experience with counselling adolescents individually and in group settings.
  • Experience working with youth or in a related setting.
