Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate individual to fill the position of Education Worker. In this role, you will work closely with our team to provide therapeutic interventions, facilitate admission and integration into mainstream schools, and develop educational and behavioral goal plans for clients.

You will also be responsible for transporting clients between the live-in program and the school program, as well as ensuring administrative duties and client records are completed within required timeframes.

  • Incorporate a strengths-based relationship-based philosophy of care and a belief in the resilience of youth into your work.
  • Provide therapeutic interventions to facilitate change and ensure success within the classroom and education system.
  • Develop and monitor educational and behavioral goal plans for clients.
  • Facilitate admission and integration of students into mainstream schools.
  • Develop, implement, evaluate, and participate in life skills and recreational programming.
  • Transport clients between the live-in program and the school program.
  • Ensure administrative duties and client records are completed within required timeframes.
Requirements
  • University or College Degree/Diploma in Child and Youth Work and/or Bachelor of Social Work.
  • At least three years relevant work experience, preferably in a congregate care and/or an educational setting.
  • Understanding of the complex issues and challenges facing our clients.
  • Able to work effectively independently and as part of multiple teams.
  • Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent communication skills – verbal and written.
  • Effective program and group facilitation skills.
  • Strong administrative, organizational, and computer skills.
  • Valid "Understanding and Managing Aggressive Behaviour" certification.
  • Valid "First Aid/CPR" certification.
  • Completion of required suicide prevention and intervention training.
  • Valid G Drivers' License with clear and approved drivers abstract.
Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary for this role is $54,266.47 per year, based on industry standards and the location of the position. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health and dental insurance, retirement savings plan, and paid time off.

This is a collective bargaining unit position with CUPE Local 3501.
