Job Summary:

As a Metrologist I at Sun Pharma, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of laboratory instruments.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a master preventive maintenance and calibration schedule for laboratory instruments.
  • Coordinate instrument calibration and qualification activities in accordance with the calibration master plan.
  • Create and review instrument operation, maintenance, and calibration procedures.
  • Initiate change controls for new and existing instruments and their procedures.
  • Document raw data and observations in notebooks or applicable documents.
  • Notify supervisors and management of any anomalous or out-of-control results.
  • Ensure adherence to cGMP and safety procedures.
  • Review and report applicable calibration and qualification documents.
  • Log and attend to instrument repair requests.
  • Schedule visits for outside contractors for preventive maintenance or repair.
  • Place 'out of service' tags on instruments due for calibration, repair, or new installation.
  • Conduct primary investigations under direct guidance from management.
  • Ensure adequate labeling of instruments and their calibration status.
  • Order and maintain spare parts for major instruments to ensure continuous support of analysis.
  • Verify the expiry date of chemicals, reagents, and primary calibrators prior to use.

Work Conditions:

Manufacturing/Production/Laboratory environment.

Environmental Factors:

  • Noise: Sufficient noise to cause distraction or possible injury to hearing.
  • Fumes: Smoky or vaporous emissions from combustion or chemical reactions.
  • Odors: Unpleasant smells.
  • Gases: Carbon monoxide and helium.
  • Dust: Airborne particles from any source.
  • Hazards: Conditions posing danger to life, health, or bodily injury.

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Regularly sit, use hands for manual tasks, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally stand, stoop, kneel, and crouch.
  • Specific vision abilities required for close, distance, color vision, and adjusting focus.

Travel Estimate: Up to 5%.

Education and Job Qualification:

  • Minimum BS or equivalent degree in Chemistry or related discipline.
  • In-depth knowledge of analytical instrumentation such as HPLC, GC, FTIR, and UV.
  • Practical problem-solving skills for instrumentation troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with ICH and FDA regulatory guidance.
  • Knowledge of cGMP/GLP practices for analytical laboratories and EHS/OSHA safety regulations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications.
  • A self-starter with a hands-on approach and can-do attitude.
  • Intermediate-B1+ English language proficiency level.

Experience: Minimum of two years of Pharmaceutical Industry Laboratory experience.
