Job Title: High School Individual Learning Centre Teacher

We are seeking a qualified and experienced teacher to join our team as a High School Individual Learning Centre Teacher. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching high school students in a multi-grade class setting, with a focus on student-centered, strengths-based, holistic, and land-based approaches.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that meet the educational needs of high school students
  • Work collaboratively with the Carcross/Tagish First Nation and Southern Lakes First Nation Government, community Elders, families, and students to promote greater community involvement in school-based activities and educational programming
  • Integrate Carcross/Tagish First Nation and Southern Lakes culture and worldview, and the Tlingit Language into the classroom
  • Develop and support Student Learning Plans, Behaviour Plans, Safety Plans, and Individual Education Plans
  • Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers
Requirements:
  • Bachelor of Education or equivalent
  • Experience working in identifying and offering programming for students to meet their educational outcomes and needs
  • Recent teaching experience that takes a student-centered, strengths-based, holistic, and land-based approach
  • Understanding of and experience delivering differentiated learning pedagogy is an asset
  • Experience teaching in a multi-grade class is an asset
  • Experience integrating self-regulation and social-emotional care practices in the classroom is an asset
  • Experience working with Indigenous learners in a culturally diverse community is an asset
