Magna Exteriors is seeking a skilled Mechanical Designer to join our team. As a Mechanical Designer, you will be responsible for designing and developing mechanical systems and products for the automotive industry.
Key Responsibilities- Design and develop mechanical systems and products, including assembly equipment, paint tools, and EOATs
- Utilize in-house fabrication, CNC, additive manufacturing, assembly, and outsourced mechanical components
- Manage design projects through the Engineering Services Application and maintain accurate and detailed documentation
- Track projects and manage budgets
- Provide training support and mentoring to Coop Design Students
- Technical Degree/Diploma or relevant experience in the field
- Previous experience in mechanical design, preferably in an automotive environment
- Knowledge of best practices; Design for Manufacturing, Design for Assembly, and Mechanics of Materials
- Understanding of fabrication, welding, sheet metal bending, additive manufacturing, CNC, and mechanical hardware
- Proficient in CAD Design Software, NX/Solidworks
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Problem solving skills to deal with issues as they arise
- Time management skills with ability to manage a heavy workload
