Role Summary
The Pharmacy Technician will operate in accordance with the competency guidelines and scope/standards of practice for Pharmacy Technicians as outlined by the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia and relevant legislation.
Key Responsibilities
- Process clinically reviewed and approved medication orders for distribution to patients.
- Receive prescriptions from practitioners and verify their completeness and authenticity.
- Prepare and process prescriptions, including entering orders, counting, measuring, packaging, or repackaging medications and compounding sterile pharmaceutical products.
- Ensure the accuracy and completeness of dispensed prescriptions by verifying order entries and performing final checks.
- Enter and ensure the accuracy and completeness of drug and personal health information in the pharmacy information system.
- Transfer prescriptions to and receive prescriptions from other pharmacies.
- Maintain accurate records, including medication verification and quality assurance check results.
- Distribute medications and manage inventory, wardstock, and narcotic records.
- Perform related clerical duties, such as keyboarding, answering the phone, filing, and maintaining medication and prescription records.
Requirements
- Current registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Ability to deal with others effectively.
- Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
- Ability to keyboard and operate related equipment.
- Awareness of and commitment to learning and understanding the Truth & Reconciliation Commission's 94 Calls to Action.
