About the Role

Sliters Lumber & Building Supply seeks an experienced Load Builder to join our team. As a key member of the yard crew, you will be responsible for ensuring timely and accurate materials handling and delivery to meet our customer service objectives.

Responsibilities
  • Pull and stage materials for loading purposes.
  • Loading trucks under the direction of the yard foreman and driver.
  • Assist will-call customers with material loading and provide prompt, friendly service.
  • Safely operate machinery, such as saws, when required for customer service tasks.
  • Familiarize yourself with all inventory items and their locations, unloading shipments, and storing incoming materials correctly.
  • Adhere to safety and fire regulations at all times.
  • Maintain a clean and organized yard environment.
  • Learn and apply proper material handling techniques to minimize damage to goods.
  • Familiarity with lumber grades, dimensions, species, and other merchandise stored in the yard.
  • Able to tolerate and function effectively in diverse seasonal climate conditions.
  • Ensure no damage to material, equipment, racks, or storage buildings.
  • Report complaints or issues with customers promptly to supervisors.
  • Swiftly report accidents and violations, filing necessary forms.
  • Cooperate with material returns and assist the yard foreman in storing them.
  • Bear in mind potential sales opportunities and completeness of project solutions.
Working Conditions

This role requires frequent standing, walking, and occasional heavy lifting (90-100 lbs) with significant outdoor activities. You may also load merchandise into customer vehicles.
