We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Registered Orthotic Technician to join our team at the Nova Scotia Health Authority. As a key member of our Assistive Technology department, you will play a critical role in providing technical expertise and support to patients in need of orthotic devices.
Key Responsibilities- Provide technical expertise in the evaluation, treatment planning, design, fabrication, and maintenance of assistive devices, primarily orthoses, to enhance patient mobility and/or physical function.
- Work collaboratively with the inter-professional healthcare team to provide optimal care and assist patients in achieving their orthotic goals.
- Contribute to the ongoing care of patients by working directly and indirectly with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Ensure the quality and integrity of orthoses provided to patients meet their physical and functional needs by selecting materials and components that are best evidence-informed practice.
- Apply critical thinking, problem-solving, and effective communication skills to deliver high-quality care to patients.
- Registration in good standing with Orthotics Prosthetics Canada (annual renewal).
- Minimum of two years' experience (Technical Internship is considered experience).
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills to complete assigned work and manage changing caseloads.
- High level of manual dexterity, strong problem-solving abilities, and computer skills.
- Understanding of privacy and confidentiality requirements and infection control procedures.
- Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred.
- $29.81 - $36.54 hourly.
- Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package, including health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage, as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
- Successful candidates may be eligible for a signing bonus and up to $5,000 of relocation assistance with a defined Return of Service contract.
