We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Data Scientist to join our team at Mosaic Primary Care Network. As a key member of our data science team, you will be responsible for leading the development of advanced data and analytics strategies to drive business insights and inform decision-making.
Key Responsibilities- Advanced Data and Analytics Strategy
- Develop and lead the implementation of advanced analytics practices, including machine learning and artificial intelligence, to support business insights and evaluation planning.
- Assess and select appropriate statistical, machine learning, or AI methods through literature review and articulate methodological limitations and presentation of results/conclusions to stakeholders.
- Use statistical knowledge to gain insight into data variances, patterns, and trends, and work with predictive modeling and/or simulation techniques.
- Assess data quality, identify risks or barriers to meeting analytic and reporting objectives, and develop solutions to address these issues.
- Business Intelligence and Reporting
- Create visually engaging, user-friendly, and compelling reports and dashboards in organizational BI platforms, including Amazon QuickSight, Tableau, and Power BI.
- Conduct advanced machine learning and AI techniques in AWS environment and incorporate them into BI reports, establishing automatic data pipeline and analytic flow to incorporate data extraction, data cleaning, transformation, analysis, and reporting.
- Support quarterly KPI reports, annual reports, and operational KPI reports, and provide insights on KPI trending and identifying drivers of changes.
- Perform ad hoc/custom data extractions, summaries, and analyses to support operational needs.
- Data Quality and Documentation
- Verify and validate the integrity and rigor of primary and secondary datasets through quality assurance reviews of data extraction, linkage, analytics, and automation.
- Evaluate the data quality and the impact of ML/AI techniques and identify solutions (data transformation, imputation, outlier identification and manipulation, etc.).
- Create documentation standards and maintain comprehensive documentation related to Mosaic PCN data holdings and reports, including methodology notes, analytical plans, data dictionaries, measure definitions, reporting details, decision requests, options/recommendations, etc.
- Stakeholder Relationships
- Advise clients when data is not available or is inconsistent with the request, determine a feasible alternative, and keep clients apprised of progress to meet required timelines.
- Engage and liaise with the project team and other stakeholders through the project lifecycle, from feasibility through development to aid in data collection, data cleaning, analysis, and reporting.
- Work with stakeholders for projects at the Calgary Zone and Provincial levels.
- Build and maintain connections and collaboration with local, provincial, and national Data Science, ML, and AI communities to gain knowledge of emerging technology.
- Build and maintain working relationships with stakeholders from external agencies, including Alberta Health Services, University of Calgary, HQCA, City of Calgary, Alberta Health, CIHI, etc.
- Team Support
- Provide guidance and mentorship for the team's work assignment/distribution.
- Provide subject matter expertise, coaching, mentoring, and advice to peers and fellow team members.
- Participate as needed in the prioritization of requests of advanced complexity to balance competing demands when total workload exceeds available capacity, analyze existing and future resource requirements across all requests to quantify the gaps, and propose recommendations to the Manager for remediation.
- As a case matter expert, resolve technical disagreement amongst the team on standards or practices where no resolution can be found.
- Proactively acquire emerging ML, Generative AI techniques, and tools to expand the team analytics capacity.
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Data Scientist with a strong background in data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence. The ideal candidate will have:
- A Master's degree in statistics, data science, machine learning, artificial intelligence, or a health-related discipline with a strong grounding in data processing and graduate-level statistical analysis training.
- A minimum of eight (8) years of relevant experience in data science/analysis/research working with spreadsheets, databases, and tools for querying, integrating, analyzing, interpreting, and presenting data.
- At least five (5) years of working experience in statistical modeling, data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.
- Advanced experience in cloud computing environment, specifically Amazon Web Services (AWS) Platforms and Services is mandatory (minimum three {3} years' experience).
- Advanced level of proficiency in BI software: e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Amazon QuickSight (minimum five {5} years' experience).
- At least three (3) years of experience in Snowflake.
The ideal candidate will possess advanced knowledge of study design and methodology, experience in explanatory modeling and predictive modeling, including regression modeling, survival analysis, forecasting, decision tree, clustering, classification, and ANN. They will also have proficiency in developing analysis in Python and experience with relevant ML libraries and frameworks (e.g., Scikit-learn, Pandas, Matplotlib, Tensor flow or Pytorch), proficiency with building ML/AI pipelines and relevant tools (e.g., Kedro, MLFlow), and skills in high proficiency in SQL, and implementation of advanced analytics using Python and/or R for data manipulation and analysis.
The successful candidate will have excellent knowledge of the Alberta health system and demonstrated experience and knowledge working with datasets from external agencies, including Alberta Health Services, Alberta Health, Statistics Canada, City of Calgary, HQCA, etc. They will also have demonstrated aptitude for mentoring and leading a team or project and the ability to work independently in a dynamic, team-oriented environment.
Working ConditionsThe successful candidate will be required to work occasional evening and weekend hours. They will also be required to have the ability to travel on public transportation or a valid driver's license with access to own car in good repair.
