About the Role:




  • Job Type: Contract
  • Location: Calgary Office with limited field travel as required
  • Work Schedule: 5/40 Schedule, Monday or Friday work from home


Job Responsibilities:



The successful candidate will be responsible for collaborating with the asset teams to plan existing and future earthworks projects, including pads, infrastructure, access road corridors, geotechnical investigations, and winter drilling programs.




  • Prepare conceptual sketches and detailed grading drawings: Assist development teams in making informed decisions by preparing conceptual sketches and detailed grading drawings.
  • Optimize project footprints: Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to optimize proposed project footprints, analyze, quantify, and communicate cost-effective and risk-averse alternatives.
  • Coordinate meetings: Coordinate meetings to achieve multi-disciplinary consensus on footprints prior to survey and Earthworks execution.
  • Implement design standards: Understand Cenovus safe work practices and procedures and implement them into design standards and specifications.
  • Provide technical support: Provide technical support on construction projects through estimating, quantity take-offs, surveying, and material analysis using AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or ArcGIS.
  • Attend project meetings: Attend all key Capital Field Project Scheduling and Planning meetings to ensure project timelines are communicated and adhered to.
  • Compliance with regulations: Have a general understanding of Cenovus and industry environmental and regulatory guidelines and standards.


Requirements:




  • Eligibility: Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
  • Education: Diploma or Degree in Geographic Information Systems or Civil Engineering Technology or equivalent
  • Experience: At least 2 years of Oil and Gas experience, minimum of 8 years of experience producing civil earthworks designs using AutoCAD Civil 3D software, and a solid understanding of earthwork construction practices.
  • Skills: Develop automated tools using ArcGIS model builder and python to automate surface planning activities, strong computer skills, ability to use rigorous logic and methods to solve difficult problems, and excellent organizational skills.
  • Professional membership: ASET member or equivalent.


Desired qualifications:




  • Additional skills: Corridor modeling, mass haul diagram plan production, storm water management and design experience, slope, pond, and ditching design, culvert sizing calculations/analysis, AutoTurn and Autolisp programming, excellent organizational skills, and a strong desire to learn and execute.
  • Behavioral traits: Ability to create effective working relationships within a fast-paced multi-disciplinary environment, excellent organizational skills, and a strong desire to learn and execute.
