Senior Spacecraft Ground Control Systems Engineer

Telesat is seeking a highly skilled Senior Spacecraft Ground Control Systems Engineer to join our team responsible for the essential ground control software systems that manage our Geosynchronous (GEO) and LightSpeed fleets.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop, monitor, and maintain the GEO satellite control systems for our current GEO fleet, ensuring the safety and well-being of our spacecraft.
- Monitor and maintain the Lightspeed satellite control systems for our upcoming Lightspeed fleet, learning the control system and modifying the software to suit our operations concept.
- Develop and maintain software related to the control systems and satellite operations, including spacecraft data storage and visualization, monitoring tools, automation, and more.
- Assist the Satellite Control Center and Satellite Operations user community in their efforts related to the utilization of the control systems and related software.
- Participate in Spacecraft Transfer Orbit missions, assisting other spacecraft operators and manufacturers in getting their spacecraft to their orbit/orbital location.
- Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in software design and engineering.
- Experience with C, C++, or Java, with Python experience being an asset.
- Experience with the Linux operating system.
- Familiar with cybersecurity principles and best practices.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to summarize complex problems, solutions, and recommendations.
- Fluent in English, both written and oral.
- Occasional international travel may be required; therefore, candidates will need to provide proof that they have no national/international travel or visa restrictions.
- Self-motivating and able to work as part of a team.
- Willingness to provide off-hours support as part of a call-out rotation.
