About This Role

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Disability Support Worker to join our team at WJS Canada. As a Disability Support Worker, you will play a vital role in supporting individuals with significant mental health concerns, aggressive behaviors, and/or trauma in their daily lives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work independently with clients to achieve their goals and develop individualized support plans.
  • Model healthy relationships and set boundaries to promote positive interactions.
  • Support and supervise complex behavioral, emotional, and social needs, observing and documenting changes.
  • Use de-escalation techniques to manage challenging behaviors and provide a safe environment.
  • Assist clients in developing life skills, including household chores, meal preparation, and community engagement.
  • Connect individuals with their family, friends, and community, promoting healthy relationships and social connections.
  • Drive clients in care and participate in recreational, leisure, and vocational activities.
  • Administer medication and first aid as needed, and provide immediate support in crisis situations.
Requirements
  • 2 years of experience working with individuals with significant mental health concerns, aggressive behaviors, and/or trauma.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license and reliable vehicle.
  • Current First Aid/CPR and Non-Violent Crisis Intervention certification.
  • Training in Trauma-Informed Practice, Medication Administration, Suicide Intervention, and Conflict Resolution.
