We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Transit Advisor to join our team at the City of Mississauga. As a trusted advisor to the Director of Transit, you will play a pivotal role in providing strategic support and ensuring the successful completion of deliverables in alignment with the City's strategic initiatives.
Key Responsibilities- Provide subject matter expertise and strategic input through team discussions, report/dashboard development, review, and the creation of key documentation.
- Contribute to the development of divisional policies by providing strategic input to the Director.
- Manage stakeholders, addressing conflicting priorities or demands and handling complex situations on behalf of the Transit Director and the Transit Business.
- Support the development of communication strategies and materials that align with key initiatives and effectively convey changes.
- Negotiate partnerships with public, private, and not-for-profit entities.
- Advise on interactions with all three levels of government and offer strategic advice and input on strategy development related to government funding and funding programs.
- Provide input on behalf of the Director, Transit for enterprise and/or industry-wide matters to ensure consistency in internal and cross-functional content and change leadership.
- Identify and drive improvements in divisional processes, enhancing efficiency and productivity across all organizational levels.
- Offer creative analysis and advice as an expert in transportation and transit.
- Support and enable divisional governance through meeting coordination and establishing the appropriate balance of meeting cadences and approaches to maximize the impact of interactions for the leadership team.
- Conduct market research and operational assessments.
- Monitor overall transportation system trends, methodologies, and best practices within Mississauga, GTHA, Ontario, nationally and internationally to assess their application to MiWay and identify opportunities to improve MiWay services for the community.
- Provide support for the Transit budget and objectives.
- Develop business cases, business/operational plans, cost-benefit analyses, and feasibility studies.
- Foster collaborative relationships with other Director and Commissioner offices to ensure proper planning and execution of work.
- Lead the management of long-term strategy projects, including developing RFP's, project charters, project plans, and public engagement sessions.
- A university degree in Public Administration, Business Administration, Planning or a related discipline or an MBA is preferred.
- Demonstrated experience providing advice to senior executives, leading teams, managing and reviewing written materials, and overseeing projects of varying scales from inception to implementation.
- A minimum of 5+ years of experience in transportation-related portfolio items.
- At least 3 years of experience with MTO or other government or related work as a senior advisor or chief of staff is accepted.
- Knowledge in change management, transit, or transportation management is an asset.
- Demonstrated understanding of issues management and effective management of challenges to support the introduction of new concepts, strategies, programs, and teams.
- Strong analytical and research skills, with the ability to evaluate and recommend changes to policies, programs, and practices.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and exceptional oral /written / presentation communication skills to draft correspondence, develop presentations, prepare reports and write briefing notes.
Hourly Rate/Salary: $94, $126,643.00
