Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Waste Management Planner to join our team in the Greater Toronto Area. As a Waste Management Planner, you will play a key role in developing and implementing waste management policies and strategies that promote sustainability and reduce waste.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct research and analysis to inform waste management policy and strategy development
- Lead proposal writing and development of project plans and reports
- Assist project teams with approval and permit applications
- Compile and draft reports and documents for summary and presentation
- Coordinate public consultation and engagement activities
- Develop and present technical reports and presentations
- Review and analyze data and reports from sub-consultants
- Attend meetings and prepare meeting minutes and reports
- Manage solid waste projects related to waste management policy, organics processing, planning and approvals, waste diversion programs, zero waste and single-use item reduction strategies, material flow studies, feasibility analysis, and circular economy
- Contribute to the development of solid waste master plans and strategies
- Develop and participate in public consultation programs and prepare public-facing content
Requirements
- Post-secondary education in environmental planning, environmental policy, waste management planning, environmental science, or a related discipline
- 5-7 years of project experience in the waste management industry
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Fluency with MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Project, PowerPoint)
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Familiarity with Provincial and Federal Policy and Legislation
- Experience working with First Nations (specifically in the waste sector) would be an asset
- Valid driver's license and access to a vehicle
- Ability to manage consulting assignments within a collaborative team environment
