Bakery Assistant

About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled Bakery Assistant to join our retail team at Tipton's Your Independent Grocer. As a key member of our bakery team, you will be responsible for preparing and baking a variety of sweet and savory goods, including bread, pastries, and cakes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare dough and batters for baking, following recipes and special customer orders
- Requisition and order materials, equipment, and supplies as needed
- Bake mixed dough and batters to meet production schedules
- Train staff in preparation, cooking, and handling of food
- Prepare special orders and frost and decorate cakes and baked goods
- Draw up production schedules and ensure quality of products meets established standards
- Inspect kitchen and food service areas and operate machinery as needed
- Organize and maintain inventory and oversee sales and merchandising of baked goods
- Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances
Requirements:
- Secondary (high) school graduation certificate
- 7 months to less than 1 year of experience or equivalent experience
- Ability to distinguish between colours, attention to detail, and manual dexterity
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handle heavy loads, and work under pressure
- Reliability, dependability, and a client-focused approach
Work Environment:
- Supermarket or bakery department
- Relocation costs covered by employer
- 30 to 35 hours per week
