Vancouver Coastal Health is seeking a highly skilled Strategic Advisor, Equity and Inclusion to join our team. As a key member of our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion team, you will play a critical role in advancing our organization's commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the implementation of Vancouver Coastal Health's equity, diversity, and inclusion priority actions, ensuring alignment with our organizational commitment to a diverse workforce and inclusive workplace culture.
- Contribute to advancing our equity journey by developing and implementing strategies to increase diversity and inclusion in our recruitment and retention practices, as well as cultural responsiveness.
- Collaborate with various departments and services to develop partnerships, adopt new practices, and inspire others to promote equity, diversity, and inclusion.
- Develop and implement programs, evaluation plans, tools, and training to educate and achieve a high level of diversity and inclusion hiring practices.
- Establish baseline metrics and KPIs for the program, measuring progress and impact to inform decision-making and drive strategic thinking.
Qualifications
- Master's degree in a relevant discipline, such as Social Sciences, Business Administration, Education, Health Administration, or Political Science.
- Five to seven years of experience in equity, diversity, and inclusion program and project management, change management, organization development, partner engagement, training, and development, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Lived experience with diversity, inclusion, and equity considerations.
Knowledge and Abilities
- Strong understanding of change management, project management, and communication key principles and best practices.
- Comprehensive knowledge, skill, and experience in developing and implementing diversity-focused recruitment guidelines, tools, and training.
- Sound knowledge of federal and provincial human rights and employment policy and legislation relevant to diversity, inclusion, and equity.
- Strong project management, prioritization, and planning skills in the design and delivery of diversity, inclusion, and equity programs.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in program evaluation.
- Superior writing, speaking, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Applies superior judgment and political expertise to communicate sensitive information to, and collaborate with, a variety of internal and external partners.
- Uses superior team building, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills to facilitate critical thinking and problem resolution.
- Fosters creativity, innovation, and systems thinking in strategic planning involving cultural shifts and large-scale change initiatives.
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate workshops and meetings with multi-level and multidisciplinary staff to achieve effective outcomes.
- Plays a consultative and facilitator role for internal teams on topics such as inclusive leadership, unconscious bias, equity, dimensions of diversity, and social identity.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
