Ryder System is a leading Fortune 500 company seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as a skilled heavy equipment mechanic. This role requires a certified mechanic with experience in diagnosing and repairing a variety of vehicles, including Cummins, Detroit, Freightliner, International, Volvo, GMC, and Ford.

About the Job

This is a challenging opportunity for a talented mechanic who can provide excellent service to our customers. The successful candidate will be responsible for troubleshooting and repairing complex problems with diesel and gas engines, transmissions, refrigeration systems, brakes, and other components. Additionally, they will be expected to teach and develop junior technicians, assist with lubrication and maintenance tasks, and maintain a clean workshop environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Diagnostics and repairs of heavy equipment, including engine overhaul, transmission repair, and refrigeration system maintenance
  • Troubleshooting and repair of brake systems, air conditioning units, and electrical accessories
  • Teaching and developing junior technicians to ensure a smooth transition of knowledge and skills
  • Assisting with lubrication and maintenance tasks to ensure optimal equipment performance
  • Maintaining a clean and organized workshop environment to promote efficiency and safety
Requirements:
  • Certification as a journeyman mechanic (in progress)
  • Red Seal certification an asset; willingness to obtain MVI certification
  • Strong understanding of technical documentation, vendor bulletins, and industry standards
  • Proficiency in using all tools of the trade, shop equipment, electrical tools, and diagnostic equipment
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Availability for day, afternoon, and weekend shifts
  • Valid driver's license and good driving record
  • Good physical condition and ability to lift heavy objects
