About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Groundsperson to join our Milling team at Colas, a leading construction and maintenance company in Canada. As a Groundsperson, you will play a crucial role in assisting the Milling Machine Operator on highway and private contracts, as well as other heavy equipment operators in road construction operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Milling Machine Operator in maintaining and operating heavy equipment, including milling machines, graders, and other road construction equipment.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on equipment, including cleaning, lubricating, and performing minor repairs.
  • Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment and complete maintenance records and daily equipment logs.
  • Operate two-way radios and other communication devices to ensure effective communication with the crew.
  • Lead by example in promoting a Safety-First culture for all employees, sub-contractors, consultants, and the public.
Requirements
  • Valid Class 5 license and clean abstract.
  • Experience on a milling or paving crew.
  • Ability to travel and work on weekends, when required.
  • Mechanically inclined.
  • Knowledge of grades: cross slops, super elevations, offset grades, swales.
