About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and physically fit individual to join our team as a Construction Assistant at S & S Gill Homes and Construction Inc.

Key Responsibilities
  • Site Operations: Assist in the loading, unloading, and transportation of construction materials, ensuring timely and efficient delivery to the work site.
  • Formwork and Scaffolding: Help erect and dismantle concrete forms, scaffolding, ramps, catwalks, shoring, and barricades, adhering to safety protocols and regulations.
  • Material Handling: Mix, pour, and spread materials such as concrete and asphalt, maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
  • Medical Support: Assist the medical examiner in charge with tasks as required.
  • Demolition and Debris Removal: Participate in the demolition of buildings and removal of rubble and other debris from construction sites.
  • Cleanliness and Safety: Clean and pile salvaged materials, and clean up chemical spills and other contaminants, ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Machinery Operation: Tend or feed machines or equipment used in construction, adhering to manufacturer instructions and safety guidelines.
  • Site Traffic Management: Direct traffic at or near construction sites, ensuring smooth and safe flow of vehicles and personnel.
Requirements
  • Physical Demands: Work in a fast-paced environment with physically demanding tasks, requiring manual dexterity and the ability to handle heavy loads.
  • Travel and Work Conditions: Willingness to travel regularly and work in a variety of weather conditions, with tight deadlines and overtime requirements.
  • Weight Handling: Ability to lift up to 45 kg (100 lbs) and work at heights.
  • Personal Qualities: Flexibility, reliability, and a team player attitude are essential for success in this role.
Experience and Education
  • Education: Secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in a related field.
  • Language: English is the primary language of communication in this role.
  • Work Schedule: 40 hours per week, with regular overtime required.
