About the Opportunity

We are seeking a skilled Psychologist to join our interdisciplinary team at the Centre for Emotions & Health, providing services to adults and their families. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the Health Services Manager and Clinical Director, collaborating with other team members to deliver assessment, diagnosis, consultation, and psychotherapy services to patients with somatic symptom disorders.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will require:

  • A doctoral degree from a recognized, accredited program in Clinical Psychology
  • Registration or eligibility for registration with the Nova Scotia Board of Examiners (NSBEP)
  • A minimum of two years related clinical experience
  • Advanced psychotherapy skills and training in ISTDP
  • Competency in the use of psychological testing in the area of adult mental health
  • Demonstrated experience conducting both individual and group psychotherapy, including brief therapy
  • Demonstrated experience in development of group psychotherapy programs
  • Knowledge and understanding of the Diagnostic & Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders
  • Ability to reach a joint formulation with the client and family
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team setting
  • Previous experience working in adult outpatient mental health preferred
  • Demonstrated ability and comfort in working flexibly and creatively to provide services
  • Awareness of local community resources and agencies would be considered an asset
  • A valid Nova Scotia Driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle
  • Competencies in other languages preferred; French an asset
Hours

This is a permanent, part-time position (50% FTE) with 37.5 hours bi-weekly.

Compensation and Incentives

The successful candidate will receive a competitive hourly rate of $62.74. Additionally, successful candidates may be eligible for a signing bonus and relocation assistance with a defined Return of Service contract.
