About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Framing Carpenter to join our team at ECO-BUILD CONSTRUCTION. As a key member of our construction team, you will be responsible for ensuring the structural integrity of our buildings.

Key Responsibilities
  • Read and Interpret Blueprints: Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine work requirements and ensure compliance with building codes.
  • Prepare and Layout Building Sites: Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools to ensure accuracy and precision.
  • Construct and Assemble Building Components: Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and other materials to build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring, and erect walls and roof systems.
  • Install Finishing Touches: Fit and install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings, and hardware to complete the building.
  • Supervise and Train Team Members: Supervise and train other workers to ensure that they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their tasks safely and efficiently.
Work Environment and Physical Demands
  • Work at Heights: Work at heights, including climbing ladders and scaffolding, to perform tasks such as installing roof systems and exterior finishes.
  • Noisy and Outdoor Work Environment: Work in a noisy and outdoor work environment, including construction sites and building sites.
  • Combination of Sitting, Standing, and Walking: Perform a combination of sitting, standing, and walking to complete tasks and move around the construction site.
  • Handling Heavy Loads: Handle heavy loads, including materials and equipment, to perform tasks such as lifting and carrying.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Education and Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years of experience in the trade, with a secondary (high) school graduation certificate.
  • Language and Communication: Fluency in English, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Support for Diversity and Inclusion: Provide diversity and cross-cultural training to create a welcoming work environment for newcomers and refugees, as well as provide awareness training to employees to create a welcoming work environment for youth and Indigenous workers.
