Job SummaryThe successful candidate will assist the Director of Care in the administration, organization, and management of the Nursing Department, as well as lead the Infection Prevention and Control Program. This role requires strong leadership skills, effective communication, and the ability to work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities- Coordinate staff education and act as an educational resource to managers and committees.
- Plan, design, and evaluate educational programs for staff.
- Participate in strategic planning and identify training/education required to support organizational changes.
- Design and deliver educational programs using adult learning principles.
- Provide in-service education opportunities to all shifts and evaluate program effectiveness.
- Evaluate educational programs annually to determine if learning objectives are met.
- Assist in monitoring and evaluating staff compliance with facility and nursing policies and procedures.
- Develop policies and procedures in conjunction with Administration.
- Comply with all legislation and regulations pertinent to nursing practice.
- Implement and manage the infection prevention and control program.
- Oversee the delivery of infection prevention and control education to all staff, caregivers, volunteers, visitors, and residents.
- Audit infection prevention and control practices in the home.
- Manage and oversee the Occupational Health & Safety committee.
- Ensure staff receive health and safety orientation outlining policies, programs, and expectations.
- Maintain and develop records for education.
- Chair/participate with committees in both the facility and the community.
To be successful in this role, you will require:
- Current registration as a general Registered Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Post-Registered Nurse education in gerontology or gerontological nursing.
- At least one year of experience working as a registered nurse recognized by the Fixing Long-Term Care Act.
- Demonstrated effective leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
