Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Facilities Engineer to join our team in Fort McMurray, Alberta.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with team members to assess engineering support needs and prioritize Engineering Work Orders (WO).
  • Evaluate project proposals to ensure alignment with established execution standards and guidelines.
  • Partner with Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering teams during the scoping phase to clarify scope justifications.
  • Prepare and obtain approval for Authorization for Expenditures (AFEs) to manage project budgets effectively.
  • Work with engineers, designers, and third-party firms to create accurate, constructible work packages (CWPs).
  • Review engineering deliverables with Maintenance and Construction Coordinators to ensure practical application.
  • Conduct risk assessments and manage project changes effectively to minimize downtime.
  • Oversee project schedules and budgets, providing support during procurement and construction phases.
  • Develop yearly budgets, cost forecasts, and long-term project plans to drive business growth.
  • Ensure proper project closure upon completion, documenting lessons learned for future improvement.

Health, Safety, and Environment:

  • Comply with all health and safety regulations and industry standards, prioritizing a safe working environment.
  • Report any injuries, unsafe conditions, or acts immediately, ensuring prompt response and resolution.
  • Ensure proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) where required, promoting a culture of safety awareness.

Qualifications:

  • Education: An Engineering degree (Mechanical, Civil, Materials, Metallurgical) is preferred; a Technologist degree with piping design may be considered.
  • Certification: Eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Alberta or equivalent is highly valued.
  • Experience: 4+ years of experience in oil & gas facilities, with 5-10 years preferred, and a background in operations, maintenance, and capital projects.
  • Skills: Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills are essential, as well as the ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Additional: Familiarity with process safety reviews (MOC, PHA, HAZOP) and Alberta OH&S regulations is beneficial.

Compensation:

The estimated salary range for this role is $120,000 - $180,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience. In addition to a competitive salary, NES Fircroft offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision coverage, as well as a retirement savings plan.

Work Schedule:

  • Shift: 4 days on, 3 days off (10-hour shifts), with opportunities for flexible scheduling.
  • Location: Fort McMurray, Alberta, with Fly-In/Fly-Out from Calgary or Edmonton available.
