Rural and Suburban Mail Carrier, On-call Relief Specialist

Job Overview
As a Rural and Suburban Mail Carrier with Canada Post, you will have the opportunity to work independently and make a positive impact on your community. This role involves delivering mail to various communities on an on-call basis, requiring a high level of organization and reliability.
Key Responsibilities
- Project a professional and courteous demeanor when interacting with customers
- Sort, collect, and deliver mail items in a safe and timely manner
- Acquire and maintain knowledge of local infrastructure, including roads, customers, and delivery receptacles
- Ensure mail is securely stored in your possession
- Process various CPC products and services, including Change of Address Notification, Damaged Mail, and Items Delivered Bill (IDB)
- Wear Canada Post identification while on delivery and ensure its visibility while delivering and collecting mail from customers
- Lift and carry items up to 50 lb/22.7 kg
- Have experience making deliveries and operating a motor vehicle in various weather and traffic conditions
Requirements
- Have a satisfactory safe driving record
- Possess a valid Class 5 or Class G driver's licence with a safe driving record for at least 3 years (driver's abstract required)
- Have a minimum cargo capacity of 100 cu ft (2832 liters)
- Have a metal roof-top and accessory power outlet to accommodate a Canada Post sign and flashing light
- Have a fifth door/hatchback to allow for oversized and bulky items to be loaded (preferred)
- Provide and maintain the required automobile liability insurance for the use of your vehicle
- Notify your insurance company of the use of your vehicle while employed at Canada Post
Selection Criteria
- Pass a pre-employment test and an interview
Additional Requirements
- Provide a current driver's abstract dated within the last 30 days
Safety Sensitive Position
This position may be considered a Safety Sensitive position and has additional requirements under Canada Post's Substance Use Policy.
