Cornwall Community Hospital is currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Addiction Specialist to join our team in a residential setting.

About the Job:

The Addiction Specialist will be working within CCH operated residential facilities and will be responsible for observing and managing behaviours as well as identifying potential mental health concerns for further follow-up.

Key Responsibilities:

  • To provide evidence-based interactions with clients incorporating a multidisciplinary approach
  • To ensure thorough documentation for clinical management and risk reduction
  • To work with other professionals to ensure appropriate on-going treatment and enhancement of life skills

Requirements:

  • A 2-year college diploma in a social service-related field
  • 2 years' experience in addiction and mental health counselling
  • A valid driver's license
  • An acceptable driving record
  • Valid first aid and CPR C
  • Food Handler Certification
  • Current suicide intervention training
  • Basic cooking and cleaning skills
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Good computer skills
  • Good interpersonal, organization and presentation skills
  • Strong team orientation
  • Knowledge of various treatment modalities specific to addictions and mental health
  • A non-judgmental approach to clients
  • The ability to work independently
  • Motivational interviewing skills
